What is engineering quality?

First, let’s get our definitions aligned. According to Wikipedia, the American Engineers’ Council for Professional Development  has defined “engineering” as:

The creative application of scientific principles to design or develop […] works utilizing them singly or in combination; or to construct or operate the same with full cognizance of their design; […] all as respects an intended function […].

Currently, Sherryl Manalo is a Software Engineering Manager at Microsoft in the Industry Solutions Engineering (ISE) Organization. She leads multiple teams which engage with customers to build solutions running in the Microsoft Cloud. She has a Physics background and was in research before founding own start-up early in-career to build Open Source Solutions for customers. In 2008, she joined Microsoft and had various technical roles in the local organization before joining CSE in 2017.
